    Dr Dominic McAfee

    dr. mcafee is marine ecologist specialising in marine habitat restoration with a particular fondness for oyster ecosystems.

    dom’s research combines marine ecology with social science to ensure marine restorations are both an ecological and a social success. dom’s work aims to inspire a broader culture around ecosystem restoration, where communities come to together to support nature and themselves.

    His research has demonstrated the critical role marine habitat-forming species (e.g., oysters, mangroves, seagrass) play in protecting coastal biodiversity in a fast-changing world, and how these habitats benefit broader society.

    Burke is a seasoned dive instructor who has spent the better part of a decade traveling all over the world learning about our oceans.

    Now residing in Coffin Bay, SA, Burke has turned his sights on restoration work and using what he’s learned to make a difference.

    The Coffin Bay Oyster Reef Restoration Project is a dream come true for Burke and he could not be more excited to be a part of it.
